Nick tutors students in math, science, and English, with specialties in statistics and chemistry. He graduated from Houston High School and is currently studying engineering at the University of Memphis. Nick loves to see student’s reactions when they finally understand the material.
Eli specializes in mathematics, coding, and reading comprehension, especially with elementary-level students. He graduated from White Station High School and earned his Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of Memphis. Eli believes in teaching research and study skills, with an emphasis on cultivating curiosity and understanding how to learn. He hopes to not only help students conquer the new Core Standards, but prepare them to handle any future curriculum changes that will be thrown their way during their educational career.
As an instructor, Kennon works with students to understand the concepts they struggle with on homework and class assignments. His tutoring specialties include upper level math such as pre-calculus, trigonometry, and calculus. Before joining The Connection, Kennon graduated from White Station High School and earned his Bachelors in both Mathematics and Physics from University of Tennessee. Kennon is a passionate tutor who believes all students deserve the best math education possible. Kennon is leaving us as a tutor this year, but he comes out of retirement for our computer programming summer camps and other special events.
Jessica tutors students in math and English. She is currently a senior at Saint Benedict. She is a part of the English Honor Society, French Honors Society, and the National Honors Society. She loves to help kids reach their goals and bring a smile to their faces.
Dan is a native Memphian who attended public and private schools before graduating from Houston High School in 2003. Dan received his undergraduate degree in Engineering from Northwestern University and a Masters in Engineering Management from Christian Brothers University. He briefly worked for Medtronic as a product development engineer before giving into his passion for a career in teaching. He is also the director of The Connection Home School Tutorial in Collierville.
Savannah ensures that The Connection is a constructive, comfortable learning space to meet all students’ academic needs. She recently moved to Memphis from East Tennessee, where she graduated from Harriman High School and earned her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Tennessee Technological University. Savannah has accrued over six years of tutoring experience from working with after school programs and standardized test workshops. She has a passion for learning that motivates her to help each and every student she encounters overcome their educational struggles. Savannah hopes to help children realize their potential and prepare them for a successful future.
Daphne helps form partnerships with local institutions, talks with parents at community events about The Connection's work, manages our website and communications, and serves as a backup tutor. After graduating from White Station High School, Daphne spent four years in Chicago studying social sciences at the University of Chicago and working as a librarian, grassroots community organizer, restaurant host, nonprofit administrative support, and rideshare driver. Today she balances The Connection with a Master's in Social Work at the University of Memphis.
